Second Best Coffee: Kansas City, MO

Midwestern Modesty but they may be FIRST BEST.

I decided to visit this shop on recommendation from my friends Jennipher & Maxwell. (Thanks again). It was a pleasant surprise. This place is located in a bit of an unsuspecting area. Kinda grungy, older looking small shopping plaza by a Chinese foot massage place and a pretty sketchy looking-but delicious Mexican restaurant. The last thing I expected was a shop with a beautiful espresso slow bar with a sweet Slayer 2 Group. One thing I must say is that the crew working were extremely friendly. Knowledgable, understanding and took their time in explaining their coffees and additional offerings. Really nice when your baristas show you a different level of hospitality. A guy by the name of Gentry (sweet name) and his crew took care of me. They hooked it up with a killer Ethiopian & the most memorable drink here was one of their R&D beverages called "Island Spring". Imagine this...a tart strawberry puree, coconut cream & a cooled shot of Ethiopian espresso (Asassa), sugar on the rim, all in a mini lookin' margarita glass. It really confuses the tastebuds but once you really process it all, it is fantastic! If you get anything with Chocolate here, you wont be disappointed. They use the local Askinoise Chocolate sourced directly from all over the world. Great stuff. One last thing, if/when you visit, DO NOT skip the brekky burritos, they are small but phenomenal. They are made carefully and the ingredients are very thought out. This place had a lot to offer and next time I'll ride my bike, they have a place to hang it right next to their espresso machine.
